About the ingredients:
Bentonite clay, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays. It comes from naturally occurring volcanic ash sediments here in the United States. This clay has been traditionally used to assist in mineral deficiencies and to help bind toxins making them more soluble. Bentonite is very unusual because once it becomes hydrated, the electrical and molecular components of the clay rapidly change. It is a swelling clay, so when it is combined with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge to soak up all the impurities and pull them from your skin.
Oats contains 18 different amino acids and your skin can absorb these, making it an ideal ingredient to help heal blemishes and repair damaged skin. It also has skin-soothing properties and is hypoallergenic, so it can help to alleviate rashes and allergic reactions, as well as sunburn and other skin damage. Oatmeal is a humectant, which means that it helps your skin retain moisture and take on a glowing, dewy appearance.
Chamomile is known for its calming aroma and its anti-inflammatory, skin soothing properties. In this recipe its powdered flowers also gently exfoliate in tandem with the oat powder and neem leaf.
Neem Leaf has anti-bacterial and toning properties. It helps to clear acne and blackheads as well as even skin tone and texture. It also helps to balance oil production.
Turmeric contains curcumin, an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral powerhouse. Curcumin has been found to block inflammation. It also protects the skin by improving collagen production while banishing free radicals. And it works extremely effectively for healing wounded skin, so many of the manifestations of skin disease—dryness, rashes, scaliness, swelling, and irritation—are repaired because it helps increase connective tissue formation and promotes blood flow.
Sage is reported to have the unique ability to increase collagen, which is a key factor in maintaining elasticity in the skin. It’s rich in vitamin A which encourages cell turnover, improving skin texture and minimizing fine lines and scars.
