Invigorating Orange Sugar Scrub

It all began with my addiction to Trader Joe’s lavender sea salt scrub. I was going through it like crazy until I decided to make my own, and I then proceeded to give it to all my friends for Christmas (and a birthday or two, I may have worn that one out a little).

I like sugar a little better because it melts a bit and doesn’t feel as harsh. It exfoliates while the oil moisturizes and the essential oil provides many benefits for both physical and mental well being. This time I used orange for its uplifting and soothing qualities. It’s great for cleaning and moisturizing your hands after gardening, or for using as a body scrub in the shower. Just make sure you rinse the tub well afterwards, it gets slippery!

You can add other ingredients such as dried herbs or coffee grounds, or use sea salt instead of sugar. In the winter I use nutmeg, orange and brown sugar for a warming effect. The possibilities are endless!

You can make any size, the ratio is simply equal portions of sugar and oil.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C oil (I use olive oil, but you can use sweet almond or other carrier oils)
  • 1/2 C organic raw sugar
  • 5-10 drops essential oil

Combine and that’s it!

It’s amazing that beauty companies charge so much for this stuff and you can make it with what you have in your kitchen.
